16 The Pharisees and Sadducees approached,^(A) and tested him, asking him to show them a sign from heaven.^(B)

The Sadducees and the Resurrection

²³ That same day some Sadducees,^(A) who say there is no resurrection, came up to him and questioned him:^(B)

¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one convert,^(A) and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a child of hell as you are!

4 While they were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple police, and the Sadducees confronted them,^(A)

¹⁷ Then the high priest rose up. He and all who were with him, who belonged to the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.^(A)

⁶ When Paul realized that one part of them were Sadducees and the other part were Pharisees, he cried out in the Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees.^(A) I am being judged because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead!” ^(B)
