¹⁶ And he said, ^(A)“Are you also still without understanding? ¹⁷ Do you not see that ^(B)whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?^{[a] 18} But ^(C)what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. ¹⁹ For out of the heart come ^(D)evil thoughts, ^(E)murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, ^(F)slander. ^20 (G)These are what defile a person. But ^(H)to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

^45 (A)The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces ^(B)evil, ^(C)for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
