17 หกวันต่อมาพระเยซูพาเปโตร ยากอบ และยอห์นน้องของยากอบ ขึ้นไปบนภูเขาสูงกันตามลำพัง 2 แล้วลักษณะของพระองค์ก็เปลี่ยนไปต่อหน้าพวกเขา ใบหน้าของพระองค์ส่องสว่างจ้าเหมือนดวงอาทิตย์ เสื้อผ้าของพระองค์กลายเป็นสีขาวเปล่งประกายแวววับ 3 แล้วพวกเขาก็เห็นโมเสสกับเอลียาห์[a] กำลังพูดคุยอยู่กับพระเยซู
4 เปโตรพูดกับพระเยซูว่า “องค์เจ้าชีวิต ดีมากเลยที่พวกเราได้มาอยู่ที่นี่ ถ้าท่านต้องการ ผมจะสร้างเพิงขึ้นมาสามหลัง ให้ท่านหลังหนึ่ง โมเสสหลังหนึ่ง และเอลียาห์หลังหนึ่ง”
5 ขณะที่เปโตรยังพูดอยู่นั้น ก็มีเมฆสว่างไสวมาปกคลุมพวกเขาไว้ และมีเสียงพูดออกมาจากเมฆว่า “ท่านผู้นี้คือลูกรักของเรา เราภูมิใจในตัวท่านมาก ให้เชื่อฟังท่าน”
6 เมื่อพวกศิษย์ได้ยิน ก็ก้มหน้ากราบลงกับพื้นด้วยความตกใจกลัวยิ่งนัก 7 แต่พระเยซูเดินมาแตะตัวพวกเขาและพูดว่า “ลุกขึ้น ไม่ต้องกลัว” 8 เมื่อพวกเขาเงยหน้าขึ้นมา ก็ไม่เห็นใครอีกนอกจากพระเยซูเท่านั้น

17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

17 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John(C) the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.(D) Listen to him!”(E)
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.”(F) 8 When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
