⁹ As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone^(A) what you have seen, until the Son of Man^(B) has been raised from the dead.”^(C)

³⁰ Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.^(A)

⁴⁶ He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer^(A) and rise from the dead on the third day,^{(B) 47} and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name^(C) to all nations,^(D) beginning at Jerusalem.^(E)

Jesus Predicts His Death

²¹ Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone.^{(A) 22} And he said, “The Son of Man^(B) must suffer many things^(C) and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,^(D) and he must be killed^(E) and on the third day^(F) be raised to life.”^(G)

⁵⁶ Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.^(A)

⁹ As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone^(A) what they had seen until the Son of Man^(B) had risen from the dead. ¹⁰ They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.

¹¹ And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”

¹² Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man^(C) must suffer much^(D) and be rejected?^{(E) 13} But I tell you, Elijah has come,^(F) and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”

²³ They will kill him,^(A) and on the third day^(B) he will be raised to life.”^(C) And the disciples were filled with grief.

¹² But I tell you, Elijah has already come,^(A) and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished.^(B) In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer^(C) at their hands.”

²⁰ Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone^(A) that he was the Messiah.

Jesus Predicts His Death^(B)

²¹ From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem^(C) and suffer many things^(D) at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,^(E) and that he must be killed^(F) and on the third day^(G) be raised to life.^(H)
