イエスを知らないと言うペテロ
（マタイ26:69-75; ルカ22:56-62; ヨハネ18:15-18, 25-27）
66 そのころペテロはというと、まだ大祭司の庭の焚き火のそばで体を温めていた。そこへ大祭司の召使いである少女がやって来た。 67 彼女は火のそばで体を温めているペテロを見ると、彼の顔を近くで確認し、こう言った。「ナザレ村のイエスと一緒にいた人ですよね？」
68 「なに意味の分からないこと言ってるんだ！俺は知らん！」そう言うと、ペテロは彼女の言葉を否定し、慌ててその場を去り庭の出口へと向かって行った・・・コケッコッコーー！雄鶏が鳴いた。
69 ペテロを見た召使いの少女は、そこに立っていた周りの人たちに再び言った。「ねぇ！あの人、あの男の弟子ですよ！」
70 すると、もう一度ペテロはそれは真実じゃないと言った。「違うって言ってんだろ！」
すると、周りに立っていた人たちの目線が一斉にペテロに向いた。「間違いない！あの男の仲間だ。ガリラヤ出身の！」
71 それからペテロは呪いの言葉を発して言った。「ふざけるな！神に誓って言うが、あいつのことなんて俺は知らん！」
72 ペテロがそう言うとすぐに、雄鶏が2回目の鳴き声を上げた。コッケコッコォォォ・・・・・・ハッ！そして、ペテロはイエスが言っていたことを思い出した。「雄鶏が二度鳴く前に、イエスを三度知らないと言う」と・・・。そして、ペテロは泣き始めた・・・

66 一方ペテロは、下の中庭にいました。大祭司の女中の一人が、 67 火にあたっているペテロに気づき、じっと見つめて言いました。「あら、あんた。あのナザレ人イエスといっしょにいた人じゃないの？」 68 ペテロはそのことばを打ち消し、「変な言いがかりはよしてくれ」と言って、出口のほうへ行きかけました。その時、鶏が鳴きました。
69 すると女中は、またもペテロをしげしげと見て、そばに立っている人たちに、「ほら、あの人。あの人はイエスの弟子よ」と言いふらしました。 70 ペテロはあわててそれを打ち消しました。しばらくすると、火のそばに立っていたほかの男たちも、「おまえは確かにイエスの仲間だ。ガリラヤ人だからな」と騒ぎだしました。 71 ペテロは、「そんな男のことなど知らない。これがうそだったら、どんな罰があたってもかまわない」と叫びました。
72 するとすぐ、鶏が二度目に鳴くのが聞こえました。その瞬間ペテロは、「鶏が二度鳴く前に三度わたしを知らないと言います」という、イエスのことばを思い出したのです。ペテロは激しく泣きくずれました。

Peter Disowns Jesus(A)
66 While Peter was below in the courtyard,(B) one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself,(C) she looked closely at him.
“You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,”(D) she said.
68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,”(E) he said, and went out into the entryway.[a]
69 When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” 70 Again he denied it.(F)
After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”(G)
71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”(H)
72 Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.[b] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice[c] you will disown me three times.”(I) And he broke down and wept.
