Ang Pagpapakain sa Apat na Libo(A)
8 Nang mga araw na iyon, muling nagkatipon ang napakaraming tao. Wala nang makain ang mga ito kaya't tinawag ni Jesus ang kanyang mga alagad at sinabi sa kanila, 2 “Naaawa ako sa mga taong ito sapagkat tatlong araw na ngayong kasama ko sila at wala na silang makain. 3 Kung pauuwiin ko sila nang gutom, mahihilo sila sa daan; malayo pa naman ang pinanggalingan ng ilan sa kanila.”
4 “Ito po ay isang liblib na lugar. Saan po tayo kukuha ng pagkain para sa ganito karaming tao?” tanong ng mga alagad.
5 “Ilan ang tinapay ninyo riyan?” tanong ni Jesus.
“Pito po,” sagot nila.
6 Pinaupo ni Jesus sa lupa ang mga tao at kinuha ang pitong tinapay. Nagpasalamat siya sa Diyos, hinati-hati ang mga tinapay at ibinigay sa mga alagad upang ipamahagi sa mga tao. Ganoon nga ang ginawa ng mga alagad. 7 Mayroon din silang ilang maliliit na isda. Muli siyang nagpasalamat sa Diyos at pagkatapos ay iniutos niyang ipamahagi din iyon sa mga tao. 8 Kumain ang lahat at nabusog. Nang tipunin nila ang lumabis, nakapuno pa sila ng pitong kaing. 9 May apat na libong tao ang kumain. Matapos pauwiin ang mga tao, 10 sumakay si Jesus sa bangka, kasama ang kanyang mga alagad, at nagtungo sila sa lupain ng Dalmanuta.
Humingi ng Palatandaan ang mga Pariseo(B)
11 May(C) dumating na mga Pariseo at nakipagtalo kay Jesus. Nais nilang subukin siya kaya't hiniling nilang magpakita siya ng isang himala mula sa langit. 12 Napabuntong-hininga(D) si Jesus at sinabi sa kanila, “Bakit naghahanap ng himala ang mga tao sa panahong ito? Pakatandaan ninyo: hindi sila bibigyan ng hinihingi nilang himala.” 13 At sila'y iniwan niya. Muli siyang sumakay sa bangka at tumawid sa ibayo.
Ang Pampaalsang Ginagamit ng mga Pariseo at ni Herodes(E)
14 Nakalimutan ng mga alagad na magdala ng tinapay; iisa lang ang kanilang tinapay sa bangka. 15 Sinabi(F) ni Jesus sa kanila, “Mag-ingat kayo sa pampaalsang kinakalat ng mga Pariseo at ni Herodes.” 16 Sabi nila sa isa't isa, “Wala kasi tayong dalang tinapay kaya sinabi niya iyon.”
17 Dahil alam ni Jesus ang kanilang pinag-uusapan, sinabi niya sa kanila, “Bakit ninyo pinag-uusapang kayo'y walang dalang tinapay? Hindi pa ba kayo nakakaintindi? Hindi pa ba ito abot ng inyong isip? 18 Wala(G) ba kayong mata? Bakit hindi kayo makakita? Wala ba kayong tainga? Bakit hindi kayo makarinig? Hindi ba ninyo naaalala 19 nang paghati-hatiin ko ang limang tinapay para sa limanlibong tao? Ilang kaing ang napuno ninyo ng lumabis na pagkain?”
“Labindalawa po,” tugon nila.
20 “At nang paghati-hatiin ko ang pitong tinapay para sa apat na libong tao, ilang kaing ang napuno ninyo?” tanong niya.
“Pito po,” muli nilang sagot.
21 “At hindi pa rin ba ninyo nauunawaan ito?” tanong niya.
Pinagaling ang Isang Lalaking Bulag
22 Pagdating nila sa Bethsaida, dinala ng ilang tao kay Jesus ang isang bulag at pinakiusapan nilang hipuin niya ang taong ito. 23 Inakay niya ang bulag at dinala ito sa labas ng bayan. Matapos duraan at takpan ang mga mata nito ng kanyang kamay, tinanong ni Jesus, “May nakikita ka ba?”
24 Tumingin ang lalaki at sumagot, “Nakakakita po ako ng mga tao, ngunit para silang mga punongkahoy na naglalakad.”
25 Muling inilagay ni Jesus ang kanyang mga kamay sa mga mata ng bulag. Sa pagkakataong ito, tuminging mabuti ang bulag. Nanumbalik ang kanyang paningin at nakakita na siya nang malinaw. 26 Sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Maaari ka nang umuwi. Huwag ka nang bumalik sa bayan.”
Ang Pahayag ni Pedro tungkol kay Jesus(H)
27 Si Jesus at ang kanyang mga alagad ay nagpunta sa mga nayon ng Cesarea na sakop ng Filipos. Habang sila'y naglalakbay, tinanong niya ang kanyang mga alagad, “Ano ang sinasabi ng mga tao tungkol sa akin?”
28 Sumagot(I) sila, “Ang sabi po ng ilan, kayo daw po si Juan na Tagapagbautismo; sabi naman ng iba, si Elias daw kayo; may nagsasabi ring isa raw kayo sa mga propeta.”
29 “Ngunit(J) kayo naman, ano ang sinasabi ninyo kung sino ako?” tanong niya.
Sumagot si Pedro, “Kayo po ang Cristo.”
30 “Huwag ninyong sasabihin kaninuman kung sino ako,” mahigpit na utos niya sa kanila.
Unang Pagpapahayag tungkol sa Kamatayan at Muling Pagkabuhay ni Jesus(K)
31 Mula noon, itinuro ni Jesus sa mga alagad ang mangyayari sa kanya. Sinabi niya, “Ang Anak ng Tao ay kailangang magdanas ng matinding hirap. Siya'y itatakwil ng mga pinuno ng bayan, ng mga punong pari at ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan. Siya'y ipapapatay ngunit muling mabubuhay sa ikatlong araw.” 32 Malinaw na sinabi niya ito sa kanila at dahil dito'y dinala siya ni Pedro sa isang tabi at pinagsabihan. 33 Ngunit tumalikod si Jesus, tumingin sa mga alagad, at sinabi kay Pedro, “Umalis ka sa harap ko, Satanas! Ang iniisip mo'y hindi galing sa Diyos kundi sa tao.”
34 Pinalapit(L) ni Jesus ang mga tao at ang kanyang mga alagad, at sinabi sa kanila, “Ang sinumang nagnanais sumunod sa akin ay dapat itakwil ang kanyang sarili, pasanin ang kanyang krus, at sumunod sa akin. 35 Ang(M) sinumang nagnanais na magligtas ng kanyang buhay ay mawawalan nito; ngunit ang mawalan ng kanyang buhay alang-alang sa akin at sa Magandang Balita ay magkakamit nito. 36 Sapagkat ano ba ang mapapala ng isang tao makamtan man niya ang buong daigdig, ngunit mapapahamak naman ang kanyang sarili? 37 Ano ba ang maibabayad ng isang tao para mabawi niya ang kanyang buhay? 38 Kapag ikinahiya ninyo ako at ang aking mga salita sa harap ng mga taksil at makasalanang mga tao sa panahong ito, ikakahiya rin kayo ng Anak ng Tao pagparito niya na taglay ang dakilang kapangyarihan ng kanyang Ama, at kasama ang mga banal na anghel.”

8 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand(A)(B)(C)
8 During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 2 “I have compassion for these people;(D) they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. 3 If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.”
4 His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?”
5 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.
“Seven,” they replied.
6 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. 7 They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them.(E) 8 The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.(F) 9 About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away, 10 he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.
11 The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven.(G) 12 He sighed deeply(H) and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.” 13 Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.
The Yeast of the Pharisees and Herod
14 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. 15 “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast(I) of the Pharisees(J) and that of Herod.”(K)
16 They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”
17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?(L) 18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”
“Twelve,”(M) they replied.
20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”
They answered, “Seven.”(N)
21 He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”(O)
Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida
22 They came to Bethsaida,(P) and some people brought a blind man(Q) and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit(R) on the man’s eyes and put his hands on(S) him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into[a] the village.”
Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah(T)
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist;(U) others say Elijah;(V) and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”(W)
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.(X)
Jesus Predicts His Death(Y)
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man(Z) must suffer many things(AA) and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,(AB) and that he must be killed(AC) and after three days(AD) rise again.(AE) 32 He spoke plainly(AF) about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!”(AG) he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
The Way of the Cross
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.(AH) 35 For whoever wants to save their life[b] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.(AI) 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man(AJ) will be ashamed of them(AK) when he comes(AL) in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
