^15 (A)Others said, “It is Elijah.”

And others said, “It is ^[a]the Prophet, ^(B)or like one of the prophets.”

¹¹ So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, ^(A)the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”

²⁸ So they answered, ^(A)“John the Baptist; but some say, ^(B)Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”

¹⁴ So they said, ^(A)“Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or ^(B)one of the prophets.”

²² For Moses truly said to the fathers, ^(A)‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. ²³ And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

¹⁷ They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?”

He said, ^(A)“He is a prophet.”

Who Is He?

⁴⁰ Therefore ^[a]many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is ^(A)the Prophet.”

¹⁴ Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly ^(A)the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

²⁵ And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
