36 So they left the crowd and took him along since he was in the boat. And other boats were with him. 37 A great windstorm(A) arose, and the waves(B) were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 38 He was in the stern, sleeping(C) on the cushion. So they woke him up(D) and said to him, “Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re going to die?” (E)
39 He got up, rebuked(F) the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence!(G) Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he said to them, “Why are you afraid?(H) Do you still have no faith?”
41 And they were terrified[a](I) and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey(J) him!” (K)

Wind and Waves Obey Jesus
22 One day he and his disciples got into a boat,(A) and he told them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the lake.”(B) So they set out, 23 and as they were sailing he fell asleep. Then a fierce windstorm came down on the lake; they were being swamped and were in danger. 24 They came and woke him up, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to die!”
Then he got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves. So they ceased, and there was a calm.(C) 25 He said to them, “Where is your faith?”
They were fearful and amazed, asking one another, “Who then is this?(D) He commands even the winds and the waves, and they obey him!”

He was coming near the boat, and they were afraid. 20 But he said to them, “It is I.[b](C) Don’t be afraid.” 21 Then they were willing to take him on board, and at once the boat was at the shore where they were heading.
