3 “Listen! Consider the sower who went out to sow.(A) 4 As he sowed, this occurred: Some seed fell along the path,(B) and the birds came and ate(C) it up. 5 Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn’t have much soil, and it sprang up right away,(D) since it didn’t have deep soil.

3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.(A) 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.
