17 ·But since they don’t allow the teaching to go deep into their lives [L But since they have no root in themselves], they keep it only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the ·teaching they accepted [word; message], they quickly ·give up [fall away; stumble]. 18 Others are like the seed planted among the thorny weeds. They hear the ·teaching [word; message], 19 but the worries of this ·life [world; age], the ·temptation [deceitfulness; seduction] of wealth, and ·many other evil desires [desires for other things] ·keep the teaching from growing and producing fruit in their lives [L come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful].

17 Ngunit dahil walang ugat, sandali lamang silang nagtatagal at madali silang tumalikod pagdating ng kapighatian o mga pag-uusig dahil sa Salita. 18 Ang iba nama'y tulad ng nahasik sa tinikan. Nakinig sila sa Salita, 19 ngunit dahil sa mga alalahanin sa buhay na ito, daya ng kayamanan, at pagnanasa sa ibang bagay, nawawalan ng puwang ang Salita sa kanilang puso at ito'y hindi makapamunga.

17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
