³⁹ And again he went away and prayed, ^(A)saying the same words.

⁴² Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, ^(A)your will be done.” ⁴³ And again he came and found them sleeping, for ^(B)their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for ^(C)the third time, saying the same words again.

^8 (A)Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.

⁷ “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as ^(A)the Gentiles do, for ^(B)they think that they will be heard ^(C)for their many words.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

18 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought ^(A)always to pray and not ^(B)lose heart.
