¹⁰ The hands of the ^(A)compassionate women
Have ^[a]cooked their ^(B)own children;
They became ^(C)food for them
In the destruction of the daughter of my people.

¹⁴ Give them, O Lord—
What will You give?
Give them ^(A)a miscarrying womb
And dry breasts!

³ Even the jackals present their breasts
To nurse their young;
But the daughter of my people is cruel,
^(A)Like ostriches in the wilderness.

⁴ The tongue of the infant clings
To the roof of its mouth for thirst;
^(B)The young children ask for bread,
But no one breaks it for them.

¹⁹ “Arise, ^(A)cry out in the night,
At the beginning of the watches;
^(B)Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord.
Lift your hands toward Him
For the life of your young children,
Who faint from hunger ^(C)at the head of every street.”

²⁰ “See, O Lord, and consider!
To whom have You done this?
^(D)Should the women eat their offspring,
The children ^[a]they have cuddled?
Should the priest and prophet be slain
In the sanctuary of the Lord?
