⁷ And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. ⁸ And many ^(A)spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. ⁹ And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, ^(B)“Hosanna! ^(C)Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! ¹⁰ Blessed is ^(D)the coming ^(E)kingdom of ^(F)our father ^(G)David! ^(H)Hosanna ^(I)in the highest!”

^11 (J)And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, ^(K)he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

Jesus Prays in Gethsemane

^32 (A)And they went ^(B)to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” ³³ And he took with him ^(C)Peter and James and John, and began ^(D)to be greatly distressed and troubled. ³⁴ And he said to them, ^(E)“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and ^(F)watch.”^{[a] 35} And going a little farther, he fell on the ground ^(G)and prayed that, if it were possible, ^(H)the hour might pass from him. ³⁶ And he said, ^(I)“Abba, Father, ^(J)all things are possible for you. Remove ^(K)this cup from me. ^(L)Yet not what I will, but what you will.” ³⁷ And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour?

The Crucifixion

^21 (A)And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. ^22 (B)And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). ²³ And they offered him wine mixed with ^(C)myrrh, but he did not take it. ²⁴ And they crucified him and ^(D)divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. ²⁵ And ^(E)it was the third hour^[a] when they crucified him. ²⁶ And the inscription of the charge against him read, ^(F)“The King of the Jews.”
