⁴¹ Moved with pity,^[a] Jesus^[b] stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I am willing. Be made clean!”

³⁶ When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.^(A)

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested^[a] as we are, yet without sin.^(A)

¹⁷ Therefore he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people.^(A)

³⁴ As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.^(A)

³ He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains^[a] all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for^[b] sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,^(A)

¹² As he approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother’s only son, and she was a widow, and with her was a large crowd from the town. ¹³ When the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not cry.”^(A)

⁴¹ Taking her by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!”

³⁹ And waking up, he rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Be silent! Be still!” Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm.

³ Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.^(A)
