4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[a]”(A)
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.(B) 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me,(C) and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[b]”(D)

5 [b]Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for (B)this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, [c]“Get behind Me, Satan! [d]For it is written, (C)‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
