Luke 8:28-30

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he screamed, fell down in front of him, and cried out in a loud voice, “What do you want from me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you not to torture me!” ²⁹ because Jesus^[a] was in the process of ordering the unclean spirit to come out of the man. On many occasions the unclean spirit^[b] had seized the man,^[c] and though he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, he would break the chains and be driven by the demon into deserted places.

³⁰ Jesus asked the man,^[d] “What’s your name?”

He answered, “Legion,”^[e] because many demons had gone into him.
