⁴⁹ But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

²⁰ When he saw their faith, he said, “Friend,^[a] your sins are forgiven you.”^{(A) 21} Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, “Who is this who is speaking blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”^(B)

⁷ “Why does this fellow speak in this way? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”^(A)

³ Then some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.”
