⁴⁰ Students^[a] are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.

¹⁶ I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message.

²⁴ “Students^[a] are not greater than their teacher, and slaves are not greater than their master. ²⁵ Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like their master. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons,^[b] the members of my household will be called by even worse names!

²⁰ Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.
