¹¹ And on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.^(A)

¹² And Jesus replied to him, [The Scripture] says, You shall not tempt (try, ^[a]test exceedingly) the Lord your God.^(B)

¹³ And when the devil had ended every [the complete cycle of] temptation, he [temporarily] left Him [that is, ^[b]stood off from Him] until another more opportune and favorable time.
