²⁸ So they drew near to the village to which they were going. ^(A)He acted as if he were going farther,

⁴⁸ And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about ^(A)the fourth watch of the night^[a] he came to them, walking on the sea. ^(B)He meant to pass by them,

⁷ Joseph saw his brothers and recognized them, but he treated them like strangers and ^(A)spoke roughly to them. “Where do you come from?” he said. They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”

²⁶ Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, ^(A)“I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

² and said, “My lords, ^(A)please turn aside to your servant's house and spend the night ^(B)and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, ^(C)“No; we will spend the night in the town square.”
