GOD’S WORD Translation
36 The soldiers also made fun of him. They would go up to him, offer him some vinegar, 37 and say, “If you’re the king of the Jews, save yourself!”
38 A written notice was placed above him. It said, “This is the king of the Jews.”

36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him.(A) They offered him wine vinegar(B) 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews,(C) save yourself.”
38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews.(D)
