²⁴ “Show me a coin.^[a] Whose image is this, and whose inscription?” They replied, “Caesar’s.” ²⁵ He said to them, “Give to Caesar what is due to Caesar, and to God what is due to God.” ²⁶ They found they could not trap him by anything he said in the presence of the people, and, stunned at his reply, they fell silent.
