³⁶ When he heard the people ·coming down the road [passing by], he asked, “What is happening?”

³⁷ They told him, “Jesus, ·from Nazareth [or the Nazarene], is going by.”

³⁸ The blind man cried out, “Jesus, Son of David [^Ca title for the Messiah, a descendant of King David; 2 Sam. 7:11–16], ·have mercy [take pity] on me!”
