¹³ A few days later, the younger son gathered everything he owned and traveled to a distant country. There he wasted it all^[a] on wild living. ¹⁴ After he had spent everything, a severe famine took place throughout that country, and he began to be in need. ¹⁵ So he went out to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
