³⁹ But know this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming,^(A) he would not have let his house be broken into.

² For you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord^(A) will come just like a thief^(B) in the night.

³ Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you are not alert, I will come^[a] like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come against you.^[b]
