5 Una vez Jesús estaba a la orilla del lago de Genesaret, y la gente lo apretujaba, tratando de escuchar la palabra de Dios. 2 Jesús vio dos barcas que estaban cerca de la orilla del lago. Los pescadores habían bajado de ellas para lavar sus redes. 3 Jesús subió a la de Simón y le pidió que lo alejara un poco de la orilla. Luego se sentó y le enseñó a la multitud desde la barca.
4 Cuando terminó de hablar, le dijo a Simón:
—Lleva la barca a aguas profundas y lancen las redes para pescar.
5 Simón le respondió:
—Maestro, estuvimos trabajando toda la noche y no pescamos nada. Pero si tú lo dices, lanzaré las redes.
6 Así lo hicieron y atraparon tantos peces que las redes se rompían. 7 Entonces les hicieron señales a sus compañeros de la otra barca para que los ayudaran. Ellos fueron y llenaron tanto las dos barcas que casi se hundían.
8 Al ver esto Simón Pedro se arrodilló delante de Jesús y le dijo:
—¡Aléjate de mí, Señor, porque soy un pecador!
9 Es que él y todos sus compañeros se llenaron de asombro por la gran pesca que habían hecho. 10 Santiago y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo y compañeros de Simón, también estaban asombrados. Entonces Jesús le dijo a Simón:
—No tengas miedo. De ahora en adelante vas a pescar gente.
11 Ellos trajeron sus barcas a la orilla, dejaron todo y siguieron a Jesús.
Jesús sana a un leproso
(Mt 8:1-4; Mr 1:40-45)
12 Un día, Jesús estaba en un pueblo donde había un hombre con lepra en todo el cuerpo. Cuando vio a Jesús, se postró rostro en tierra delante de él y le rogó:
—Señor, si quieres, puedes quitarme esta enfermedad.
13 Entonces Jesús extendió la mano, lo tocó y dijo:
—Sí quiero. ¡Sana ya!
En ese mismo instante la lepra desapareció. 14 Jesús le ordenó:
—No se lo cuentes a nadie. Ve y preséntate ante el sacerdote y da la ofrenda por haber sido sanado, como lo ordenó Moisés. Esto servirá para que la gente compruebe que has sido sanado.[a]
15 Sin embargo, estas noticias se extendían cada vez más. Se le acercaban multitudes para oírlo y para que los sanara de sus enfermedades. 16 A menudo Jesús se retiraba a lugares donde podía estar solo para orar.
Jesús sana a un paralítico
(Mt 9:1-8; Mr 2:1-12)
17 Un día Jesús estaba enseñando, y unos fariseos y maestros de la ley estaban sentados allí. Habían venido de todos los pueblos de Galilea, Judea y de Jerusalén. El Señor le daba poder a Jesús para sanar a la gente. 18 Entonces llegaron unos hombres que cargaban a un paralítico en una camilla. Querían entrar para ponerlo delante de Jesús, 19 pero había tanta gente que no pudieron llegar hasta él. Así que subieron al techo, quitaron unas tejas y lo bajaron en la camilla hasta que quedó en medio de la gente, ante Jesús. 20 Cuando Jesús vio la fe que tenían, dijo:
—Amigo, tus pecados quedan perdonados.
21 Entonces los maestros de la ley y los fariseos se dijeron: «¿Quién es este hombre? Lo que dice es una ofensa a Dios. El único que puede perdonar pecados es Dios». 22 Pero Jesús sabía lo que estaban pensando, y les dijo:
—¿Qué están pensando? 23 Tal vez piensen que es más fácil que yo le diga: “Tus pecados quedan perdonados”, porque eso no se puede comprobar. Pero si le digo: “¡Levántate y anda!” 24 y así sucede, entonces quedará comprobado que el Hijo del hombre tiene en la tierra el poder de perdonar pecados.
Así que Jesús le dijo al paralítico:
—A ti te digo: ¡levántate, recoge tu camilla y vete a tu casa!
25 De inmediato el hombre se levantó delante de todos, recogió su camilla y se fue a su casa alabando a Dios. 26 Todos estaban asombrados y alababan a Dios. Estaban llenos de miedo y dijeron:
—¡Hoy hemos visto cosas increíbles!
Leví sigue a Jesús
(Mt 9:9-13; Mr 2:13-17)
27 Después de esto, Jesús salió y vio a un cobrador de impuestos llamado Leví, sentado en el lugar donde se pagaban los impuestos. Jesús le dijo:
—Sígueme.
28 Dejándolo todo, se levantó y lo siguió.
29 Luego Leví hizo una gran fiesta para Jesús en su casa. Muchos cobradores de impuestos y otros estaban comiendo con ellos. 30 Los fariseos y los maestros de la ley se quejaron con los seguidores de Jesús:
—¿Por qué beben y comen con cobradores de impuestos y pecadores?
31 Jesús les respondió:
—Los sanos no necesitan médico, los enfermos sí. 32 Yo no he venido a invitar a los buenos a que me sigan, sino a decirles a los pecadores que cambien su manera de pensar y de vivir.
Una pregunta sobre el ayuno
(Mt 9:14-17; Mr 2:18-22)
33 Le dijeron a Jesús:
—Los seguidores de Juan ayunan y oran con frecuencia al igual que los seguidores de los fariseos. En cambio, tus seguidores siempre están comiendo y bebiendo.
34 Jesús les contestó:
—Cuando hay una boda, no se puede exigir que los amigos del novio ayunen mientras él está con ellos. 35 Pero llegará el día en que se llevarán al novio y entonces en ese tiempo ayunarán.
36 También les contó una historia:
—Nadie quita un retazo de un vestido nuevo para arreglar uno viejo, porque echa a perder el vestido nuevo, y el retazo nuevo no queda bien con el vestido viejo. 37 Ni tampoco echa vino nuevo en cueros viejos, porque el vino nuevo revienta los cueros, se derrama y se dañan los cueros. 38 El vino nuevo se echa en cueros nuevos. 39 Después de tomar vino añejo, nadie quiere tomar vino nuevo, porque dice: “El vino añejo es bueno”.

La pesca milagrosa

5 Aconteció que estando Jesús junto al lago de Genesaret, el gentío se agolpaba sobre él para oír la palabra de Dios. 2 Y vio dos barcas que estaban cerca de la orilla del lago; y los pescadores, habiendo descendido de ellas, lavaban sus redes. 3 Y entrando en una de aquellas barcas, la cual era de Simón, le rogó que la apartase de tierra un poco; y sentándose, enseñaba desde la barca a la multitud.(A) 4 Cuando terminó de hablar, dijo a Simón: Boga mar adentro, y echad vuestras redes para pescar. 5 Respondiendo Simón, le dijo: Maestro, toda la noche hemos estado trabajando, y nada hemos pescado;(B) mas en tu palabra echaré la red. 6 Y habiéndolo hecho, encerraron gran cantidad de peces,(C) y su red se rompía. 7 Entonces hicieron señas a los compañeros que estaban en la otra barca, para que viniesen a ayudarles; y vinieron, y llenaron ambas barcas, de tal manera que se hundían. 8 Viendo esto Simón Pedro, cayó de rodillas ante Jesús, diciendo: Apártate de mí, Señor, porque soy hombre pecador. 9 Porque por la pesca que habían hecho, el temor se había apoderado de él, y de todos los que estaban con él, 10 y asimismo de Jacobo y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón. Pero Jesús dijo a Simón: No temas; desde ahora serás pescador de hombres. 11 Y cuando trajeron a tierra las barcas, dejándolo todo, le siguieron.
Jesús sana a un leproso

12 Sucedió que estando él en una de las ciudades, se presentó un hombre lleno de lepra, el cual, viendo a Jesús, se postró con el rostro en tierra y le rogó, diciendo: Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme. 13 Entonces, extendiendo él la mano, le tocó, diciendo: Quiero; sé limpio. Y al instante la lepra se fue de él. 14 Y él le mandó que no lo dijese a nadie; sino ve, le dijo, muéstrate al sacerdote, y ofrece por tu purificación, según mandó Moisés,(D) para testimonio a ellos. 15 Pero su fama se extendía más y más; y se reunía mucha gente para oírle, y para que les sanase de sus enfermedades. 16 Mas él se apartaba a lugares desiertos, y oraba.
Jesús sana a un paralítico

17 Aconteció un día, que él estaba enseñando, y estaban sentados los fariseos y doctores de la ley, los cuales habían venido de todas las aldeas de Galilea, de Judea y Jerusalén; y el poder del Señor estaba con él para sanar. 18 Y sucedió que unos hombres que traían en un lecho a un hombre que estaba paralítico, procuraban llevarle adentro y ponerle delante de él. 19 Pero no hallando cómo hacerlo a causa de la multitud, subieron encima de la casa, y por el tejado le bajaron con el lecho, poniéndole en medio, delante de Jesús. 20 Al ver él la fe de ellos, le dijo: Hombre, tus pecados te son perdonados. 21 Entonces los escribas y los fariseos comenzaron a cavilar, diciendo: ¿Quién es este que habla blasfemias? ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados sino solo Dios? 22 Jesús entonces, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, respondiendo les dijo: ¿Qué caviláis en vuestros corazones? 23 ¿Qué es más fácil, decir: Tus pecados te son perdonados, o decir: Levántate y anda? 24 Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del Hombre tiene potestad en la tierra para perdonar pecados (dijo al paralítico): A ti te digo: Levántate, toma tu lecho, y vete a tu casa. 25 Al instante, levantándose en presencia de ellos, y tomando el lecho en que estaba acostado, se fue a su casa, glorificando a Dios. 26 Y todos, sobrecogidos de asombro, glorificaban a Dios; y llenos de temor, decían: Hoy hemos visto maravillas.
Llamamiento de Leví
(Mt. 9.9-13; Mr. 2.13-17)
27 Después de estas cosas salió, y vio a un publicano llamado Leví, sentado al banco de los tributos públicos, y le dijo: Sígueme. 28 Y dejándolo todo, se levantó y le siguió.
29 Y Leví le hizo gran banquete en su casa; y había mucha compañía de publicanos y de otros que estaban a la mesa con ellos. 30 Y los escribas y los fariseos murmuraban contra los discípulos, diciendo: ¿Por qué coméis y bebéis con publicanos y pecadores?(E) 31 Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Los que están sanos no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los enfermos. 32 No he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores al arrepentimiento.

33 Entonces ellos le dijeron: ¿Por qué los discípulos de Juan ayunan muchas veces y hacen oraciones, y asimismo los de los fariseos, pero los tuyos comen y beben? 34 Él les dijo: ¿Podéis acaso hacer que los que están de bodas ayunen, entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos? 35 Mas vendrán días cuando el esposo les será quitado; entonces, en aquellos días ayunarán. 36 Les dijo también una parábola: Nadie corta un pedazo de un vestido nuevo y lo pone en un vestido viejo; pues si lo hace, no solamente rompe el nuevo, sino que el remiendo sacado de él no armoniza con el viejo. 37 Y nadie echa vino nuevo en odres viejos; de otra manera, el vino nuevo romperá los odres y se derramará, y los odres se perderán. 38 Mas el vino nuevo en odres nuevos se ha de echar; y lo uno y lo otro se conservan. 39 Y ninguno que beba del añejo, quiere luego el nuevo; porque dice: El añejo es mejor.

Four Fishermen Called as Disciples(A)
5 So (B)it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to (C)hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He (D)sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, (E)“Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught (F)nothing; nevertheless (G)at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, (H)“Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
9 For he and all who were with him were (I)astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. (J)From now on you will catch men.” 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, (K)they [a]forsook all and followed Him.
Jesus Cleanses a Leper(L)
12 (M)And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of (N)leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and [b]implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
13 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” (O)Immediately the leprosy left him. 14 (P)And He charged him to tell no one, “But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, (Q)just as Moses commanded.”
15 However, (R)the report went around concerning Him all the more; and (S)great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 (T)So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and (U)prayed.
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralytic(V)
17 Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present [c]to heal them. 18 (W)Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19 And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst (X)before Jesus.
20 When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”
21 (Y)And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? (Z)Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
22 But when Jesus (AA)perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, (AB)“I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
25 Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, (AC)glorifying God. 26 And they were all amazed, and they (AD)glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!”

34 And He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the (AO)bridegroom is with them? 35 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.”
36 (AP)Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one [g]puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, [h]and both are preserved. 39 And no one, having drunk old wine, [i]immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is [j]better.’ ”

Jesus Calls His First Disciples(A)
5 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a] the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.(B) 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.(C)
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”(D)
5 Simon answered, “Master,(E) we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.(F) But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.(G) 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”(H) 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid;(I) from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.(J)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(K)
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.[b](L) When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone,(M) but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded(N) for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
15 Yet the news about him spread all the more,(O) so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.(P)
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(Q)
17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law(R) were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.(S) 18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”(T)
21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”(U)
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(V) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.(W) They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners(X)
27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,”(Y) Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.(Z)
29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors(AA) and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect(AB) complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”(AC)
31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”(AD)
Jesus Questioned About Fasting(AE)
33 They said to him, “John’s disciples(AF) often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.”
34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom(AG) fast while he is with them? 35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them;(AH) in those days they will fast.”
36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’”
