Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
19 Jesus entered Jericho(A) and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig(B) tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.(C)
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”(D)
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,(E) “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything,(F) I will pay back four times the amount.”(G)
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.(H) 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”(I)
The Parable of the Ten Minas(J)
11 While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God(K) was going to appear at once.(L) 12 He said: “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants(M) and gave them ten minas.[a] ‘Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I come back.’
14 “But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’
15 “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.
16 “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more.’
17 “‘Well done, my good servant!’(N) his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’(O)
18 “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’
19 “His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’
20 “Then another servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. 21 I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’(P)
22 “His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words,(Q) you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?(R) 23 Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’
24 “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.(S) 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’”
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King(T)(U)
28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.(V) 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany(W) at the hill called the Mount of Olives,(X) he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them.(Y) 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.”
35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks(Z) on the road.
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives,(AA) the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”(AC)
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”(AD)
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”(AE)
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it(AF) 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.(AG) 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls.(AH) They will not leave one stone on another,(AI) because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming(AJ) to you.”
Jesus at the Temple(AK)
45 When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 46 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer’[c];(AL) but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[d]”(AM)
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple.(AN) But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.(AO) 48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.

Si Zaqueo, ang Maniningil ng Buwis
19 Pumasok at dumaan si Jesus sa Jerico.
2 Naroroon ang isang lalaking nagngangalang Zaqueo. Siya ay punong-maniningil ng buwis at siya ay mayaman. 3 Hinahangad niyang makita kung sino si Jesus. Hindi niya ito magawa dahil sa napakaraming tao, sapagkat siya ay mababa. 4 At tumakbo siya sa unahan at umakyat sa isang puno ng sikamoro upang makita si Jesus sapagkat sa daang iyon daraan si Jesus.
5 Nang dumating si Jesus sa dakong iyon, tumingala siya at nakita niya si Zaqueo. Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Zaqueo, magmadali kang bumaba sapagkat sa araw na ito ay kinakailangang manatili ako sa iyong bahay. 6 Nagmamadali siyang bumaba at nagagalak niyang tinanggap si Jesus.
7 Nang makita ito ng lahat, nagbulung-bulungan sila. Kanilangsinabi: Manunuluyan siya sa isang makasalanan.
8 Si Zaqueo ay nakatayo at sinabi niya sa Panginoon: Narito, Panginoon, ang kalahati ng aking tinatangkilik ay ibibigay ko sa mga dukha. Anuman ang aking nakuha sa pamamagitan ng maling paraan sa sinuman ay ibabalik ko nang makaapat na ulit.
9 Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Sa araw na ito, dumating sa bahay na ito ang kaligtasan sapagkat siya ay anak rin ni Abraham. 10 Ang Anak ng Tao ay pumarito upang hanapin at iligtas ang nawala.
Ang Talinghaga Patungkol sa Sampung Mina
11 Habang pinakikinggan nila ang mga bagay na ito, idinagdag ni Jesus at sinabi ang isang talinghaga sapagkat malapit na siya sa Jerusalem at inakala nila na ang paghahari ng Diyos ay mahahayag na.
12 Kaya nga, sinabi niya: May isang maharlikang lalaki. Pumunta siya sa malayong bayan upang tanggapin sa kaniyang sarili ang isang paghahari at siya ay babalik. 13 Tinawag niya ang sampu sa kaniyang mga alipin at bawat isa ay binigyan ng isang mina. Sinabi niya sa kanila: Mangalakal kayo hanggang sa pagdating ko.
14 Ngunit ang kaniyang mga mamamayan ay napopoot sa kaniya. At nagsugo sila sa kaniya ng isang kinatawan. Kanilang sinabi: Ayaw naming maghari sa amin ang lalaking ito.
15 At nangyari, na sa kaniyang pagbalik, pagkatanggap niya ng paghahari, iniutos niyang tawagin ang mga aliping ito. Ipinatawag niya ang mga aliping binigyan niya ng salapi upang malaman niya kung ano ang tinubo ng bawat isa sa pangangalakal.
16 Dumating ang una at sinabi: Panginoon, ang iyong mina ay tumubo ng sampung mina.
17 Sinabi niya sa kaniya: Magaling ang iyong ginawa, ikaw na mabuting alipin. Dahil naging matapat ka sa napakaliit, mamamahala ka sa sampung lungsod.
18 Dumating ang pangalawa at sinabi: Panginoon, ang iyong mina ay tumubo ng limang mina.
19 Sinabi rin niya sa isang ito: Mamamahala ka sa limang lungsod.
20 Dumating ang isa at sinabi: Panginoon, narito ang iyong mina na itinago ko sa isang panyo. 21 Itinago ko ito sapagkat natatakot ako sa iyo dahil ikaw ay isang malupit na tao. Kinukuha mo ang hindi mo inilagay at inaani mo ang hindi mo inihasik.
22 Ngunit sinabi niya sa kaniya: Hahatulan kita mula sa iyong bibig, masamang alipin. Alam mong ako ay isang mabagsik na tao. Kinukuha ko ang hindi ko inilagay at inaani ko ang hindi ko inihasik. 23 Bakit hindi mo inilagak sa bangko ang aking salapi upang sa pagdating ko ay makuha ko ito kasama ang tubo?
24 Sa mga nakatayo ay kaniyang sinabi: Kunin ninyo sa kaniya ang mina. Ibigay ninyo ito sa kaniya na may sampung mina.
25 Sinabi nila sa kaniya: Panginoon, may sampung mina siya.
26 Ito ay sapagkat sinasabi ko sa inyo: Sa bawat isa na mayroon ay bibigyan. Ngunit sa kaniya na wala, maging ang nasa kaniya ay kukunin mula sa kaniya. 27 Subalit, itong aking mga kaaway na ayaw akong maghari sa kanila ay dalhin ninyo rito. Patayin ninyo sila sa aking harapan.
Pumasok si Jesus sa Jerusalem Tulad ng Isang Hari
28 Pagkasabi ng mga bagay na ito, nauna siyang umahon saJerusalem.
29 At nangyari nang papalapit na siya sa Betfage at Betania, patungo sa tinatawag na bundok ng mga Olibo, sinugo niya ang dalawa sa kaniyang mga alagad. 30 Kaniyang sinabi: Pumunta kayo sa nayon na nasa unahan ninyo. Sa pagpasok ninyo sa nayon, masusumpungan ninyo ang isang batang asno na nakatali. Hindi pa iyon nasasakyan ng sinumang tao. Kalagan ninyo iyon at dalhin dito. 31 Kung may magtanong sa inyo: Bakit ninyo kinalagan iyan? Sabihin nga ninyo sa kaniya: Kailangan ito ng Panginoon.
32 Umalis ang mga sinugo at nasumpungan nila ang ayon sa pagkasabi sa kanila. 33 Sa pagkalag nila sa bisiro, ang mga may-ari nito ay nagsabi sa kanila: Bakit ninyo kinakalagan ang bisiro?
34 Sinabi nila: Kailangan ito ng Panginoon.
35 Inakay nila ang bisiro patungo kay Jesus. Pagkalagay nila ng kanilang mga damit sa bisiro, pinasakay nila si Jesus doon. 36 Sa kaniyang pagyaon, inilatag nila ang kanilang mga damit sa daan.
37 Malapit na siya sa paanan ng bundok ng mga Olibo. Habang papalapit na siya ang buong karamihan ng mga alagad ay nagsimulang magalak at magpuri sa Diyos. Nagpuri sila nang may malakas na tinig sa lahat ng mga himalang nakita nila. 38 Sinasabi nila:
Papuri sa Hari na pumaparito sa pangalan ng Panginoon! Kapayapaan sa langit at kaluwalhatian sa kataas-taasan!
39 Ang ilan sa mga Fariseong mula sa karamihan ay nagsabi sa kaniya: Guro, sawayin mo ang iyong mga alagad. 40 Sapagsagot ay sinabi niya sa kanila: Sinasabi ko sa inyo, kapag tumahimik ang mga ito, sisigaw ang mga bato.
41 Nang siya ay nakalapit at nakita ang lungsod, iniyakan niya ito. 42 Sinabi niya: Kung nalalaman mo, maging ikaw, kahit man lang sa araw mong ito, ang mga bagay na para sa iyong kapayapaan. Ngunit ngayon sila ay natago sa iyong mga paningin. 43 Ito ay sapagkat darating sa iyo ang mga araw na ang mga kaaway mo ay maglalagay ng bambang sa palibot mo. Papalibutan ka nila at kukubkubin ka nila sa bawat panig. 44 Ikaw ay papataging kapantay ng lupa kasama ng iyong mga anak. Walang batong maiiwan na nakapatong sa isang bato sapagkat hindi mo binigyang pansin ang panahon ng pagdating ng Diyos sa inyo.
Nilinis ni Jesus ang Templo
45 Sa kaniyang pagpasok sa templo, itinaboy niya ang mganagtitinda at namimili roon.
46 Sinabi niya sa kanila: Nasusulat:
Ang aking bahay ay isang bahay dalanginan. Ngunit ginawa ninyo itong yungib ng mga tulisan.
47 At nagturo si Jesus sa templo araw-araw. Ang mga pinunong-saserdote, ang mga guro ng kautusan at ang mga pinuno ng mga tao ay naghanap ng paraan upang mapatay siya. 48 Hindi nila masumpungan ang maaari nilang gawin dahil ang mga tao ay matamang nakikinig sa kaniya.

Jesus and Zacchaeus
19 (A)He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. 3 And (B)he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into (C)a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for (D)I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he hurried and came down and (E)received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all (F)grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” 8 And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods (G)I give to the poor. And if I have (H)defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it (I)fourfold.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since (J)he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For (K)the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
The Parable of the Ten Minas
11 As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because (L)they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. 12 He said therefore, (M)“A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. 13 Calling (N)ten of his servants,[a] he gave them ten minas,[b] and said to them, ‘Engage in business (O)until I come.’ 14 But (P)his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ 15 When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business. 16 The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant![c] Because you have been (Q)faithful in a very little, (R)you shall have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made five minas.’ 19 And he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20 Then another came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in (S)a handkerchief; 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are (T)a severe man. You take (U)what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 He said to him, (V)‘I will condemn you with your own words, (W)you wicked servant! You knew that I was (X)a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ 24 And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’ 25 And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’ 26 ‘I tell you that (Y)to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 27 But (Z)as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and (AA)slaughter them before me.’”
The Triumphal Entry
28 And when he had said these things, (AB)he went on ahead, (AC)going up to Jerusalem. 29 (AD)When he drew near to Bethphage and (AE)Bethany, at (AF)the mount that is called Olivet, he sent (AG)two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, (AH)on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32 So those who were sent went away and found it (AI)just as he had told them. 33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And they said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36 And as he rode along, they (AJ)spread their cloaks on the road. 37 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—(AK)the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice (AL)for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38 saying, (AM)“Blessed is (AN)the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and (AO)glory in the highest!” 39 (AP)And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, (AQ)the very stones would cry out.”
Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem
41 (AR)And when he drew near and saw the city, (AS)he wept over it, 42 saying, (AT)“Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now (AU)they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For (AV)the days will come upon you, when your enemies (AW)will set up a barricade around you and (AX)surround you and hem you in on every side 44 (AY)and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And (AZ)they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know (BA)the time of your (BB)visitation.”
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
45 (BC)And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, 46 saying to them, “It is written, (BD)‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but (BE)you have made it a den of robbers.”
47 (BF)And he was teaching daily in the temple. (BG)The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him, 48 but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on his words.
