El mayordomo infiel
16 Decía también Jesús a los discípulos: Había cierto hombre rico que tenía un mayordomo; y este fue acusado ante él de derrochar sus bienes(A). 2 Entonces lo llamó y le dijo: «¿Qué es esto que oigo acerca de ti? Rinde cuentas de tu administración, porque no puedes ser más mayordomo». 3 Y el mayordomo se dijo a sí mismo: «¿Qué haré? Pues mi señor me quita la administración. No tengo fuerzas para cavar, y me da vergüenza mendigar. 4 Ya sé[a] lo que haré, para que cuando se me destituya de la administración me reciban en sus casas». 5 Y llamando a cada uno de los deudores de su señor, dijo al primero: «¿Cuánto le debes a mi señor?». 6 Y él dijo: «Cien barriles[b] de aceite». Y le dijo: «Toma tu factura, siéntate pronto y escribe cincuenta». 7 Después dijo a otro: «Y tú, ¿cuánto debes?». Y él respondió: «Cien medidas[c] de trigo». Él le dijo*: «Toma tu factura y escribe ochenta». 8 El señor elogió al mayordomo injusto porque había procedido con sagacidad, pues los hijos de este siglo(B) son más sagaces en las relaciones con sus semejantes[d] que los hijos de la luz(C). 9 Y yo os digo: Haceos amigos por medio de las riquezas[e](D) injustas(E), para que cuando falten, os reciban en las moradas eternas(F). 10 El que es fiel en lo muy poco, es fiel también en lo mucho(G); y el que es injusto en lo muy poco, también es injusto en lo mucho. 11 Por tanto, si no habéis sido fieles en el uso de las riquezas[f] injustas(H), ¿quién os confiará las riquezas verdaderas? 12 Y si no habéis sido fieles en el uso de lo ajeno, ¿quién os dará lo que es vuestro[g]? 13 Ningún siervo[h] puede servir a dos señores, porque o aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o se apegará a uno y despreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas[i](I).
Los fariseos y la ley
14 Los fariseos, que eran amantes del dinero(J), oían todas estas cosas y se burlaban de Él(K). 15 Y Él les dijo: Vosotros sois los que os justificáis a vosotros mismos(L) ante los hombres, pero Dios conoce vuestros corazones(M), porque lo que entre los hombres es de alta estima, abominable es delante de Dios. 16 La ley y los profetas se proclamaron hasta Juan(N); desde entonces se anuncian las buenas nuevas del reino de Dios(O), y todos se esfuerzan por entrar en él. 17 Pero más fácil es que el cielo y la tierra pasen, que un ápice[j] de la ley deje de cumplirse[k](P). 18 Todo el que se divorcia de[l] su mujer y se casa con otra, comete adulterio; y el que se casa con la que está divorciada del[m] marido, comete adulterio(Q).
El rico y Lázaro
19 Había cierto hombre rico que se vestía de púrpura y lino fino, celebrando cada día fiestas con esplendidez. 20 Y un pobre llamado Lázaro yacía a su puerta(R) cubierto de llagas, 21 ansiando saciarse de las migajas que caían de la mesa del rico; además, hasta los perros venían y le lamían las llagas. 22 Y sucedió que murió el pobre y fue llevado por los ángeles al seno(S) de Abraham; y murió también el rico y fue sepultado. 23 En el Hades[n](T) alzó[o] sus ojos, estando en tormentos, y vio* a Abraham a lo lejos, y a Lázaro en su seno. 24 Y gritando, dijo: «Padre Abraham(U), ten misericordia de mí, y envía a Lázaro para que moje la punta de su dedo en agua y refresque mi lengua, pues estoy en agonía en esta llama(V)». 25 Pero Abraham le dijo: «Hijo, recuerda que durante tu vida recibiste tus bienes(W), y Lázaro, igualmente, males; pero ahora él es consolado aquí, y tú estás en agonía. 26 Y además de[p] todo esto, hay un gran abismo puesto entre nosotros y vosotros, de modo que los que quieran pasar de aquí a vosotros no puedan, y tampoco nadie pueda[q] cruzar de allá a nosotros». 27 Entonces él dijo: «Te ruego, pues, padre, que lo envíes a la casa de mi padre, 28 pues tengo cinco hermanos, de modo que él los prevenga[r](X), para que ellos no vengan también a este lugar de tormento». 29 Pero Abraham dijo*: «Ellos tienen a Moisés y a los profetas(Y); que los oigan». 30 Y él dijo: «No, padre Abraham(Z), sino que si alguno va a ellos de entre los muertos, se arrepentirán». 31 Mas Abraham le contestó: «Si no escuchan a Moisés y a los profetas, tampoco se persuadirán si alguno se levanta de entre los muertos».

The Parable of the Dishonest Manager
16 He also said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had (A)a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions. 2 And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your (B)management, for you can no longer be manager.’ 3 And the manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. 4 I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.’ 5 So, summoning his master's debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ 6 He said, ‘A hundred measures[a] of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ 7 Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures[b] of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ 8 The master commended the dishonest manager for his (C)shrewdness. For (D)the sons of this world[c] are (E)more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than (F)the sons of light. 9 And I tell you, (G)make friends for yourselves by means of (H)unrighteous wealth,[d] so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.
10 (I)“One who is (J)faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. 11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in (K)that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? 13 (L)No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
The Law and the Kingdom of God
14 (M)The Pharisees, who were (N)lovers of money, heard all these things, and they (O)ridiculed him. 15 And he said to them, “You are those who (P)justify yourselves before men, but (Q)God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men (R)is an abomination in the sight of God.
16 (S)“The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then (T)the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and (U)everyone forces his way into it.[e] 17 But (V)it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.
Divorce and Remarriage
18 (W)“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.
The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was clothed in (X)purple and fine linen and (Y)who feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And at his gate (Z)was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who desired to be fed with (AA)what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 The poor man died and was carried by (AB)the angels (AC)to Abraham's side.[f] The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in (AD)Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and (AE)saw Abraham far off and Lazarus (AF)at his side. 24 And he called out, (AG)‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and (AH)cool my tongue, for (AI)I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that (AJ)you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ 27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house— 28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have (AK)Moses and the Prophets; (AL)let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, (AM)father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear (AN)Moses and the Prophets, (AO)neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”
