Vergevings-offers (vervolg)
5 Als iemand het bevel heeft gekregen om in een rechtszaak te komen getuigen van wat hij gehoord of gezien heeft, maar hij wil niet komen, dan is hij schuldig.[a]
2 Als iemand per ongeluk iets onreins aanraakt, bijvoorbeeld een dood onrein dier, dan is hij onrein en schuldig.[b]
3 Als iemand per ongeluk een mens aanraakt die om één of andere reden onrein is, dan is hij onrein en schuldig. Ook als hij niet wist dat die ander onrein is.
4 Als iemand zonder nadenken een eed zweert om iets te doen, of het nu iets goeds is of iets slechts, en hij ontdekt dat hij dat niet had moeten zweren, dan is hij schuldig.
5 Als iemand één van deze dingen heeft gedaan, moet hij zeggen wat hij voor verkeerds gedaan heeft. 6 En hij moet een jong vrouwtjes-schaap of een jonge vrouwtjes-geit aan Mij offeren. Daarmee vraagt de priester voor hem om vergeving, en de man zal vergeving krijgen.
7 Maar als iemand te arm is om een schaap of geit te offeren, moet hij twee duiven aan Mij offeren: de ene duif als vergevings-offer en de andere duif als brand-offer. 8 Hij moet ze naar de priester brengen. De eerste duif is voor een vergevings-offer. De priester moet het dier de kop omdraaien, maar de kop er niet aftrekken. 9 Hij moet een deel van het bloed tegen de zijkant van het altaar sprenkelen. De rest van het bloed moet hij aan de voet van het altaar uit het lijfje drukken. Het is een vergevings-offer. 10 De tweede duif is voor een brand-offer. De priester moet het dier offeren volgens de regels van de brand-offers. Zo moet de priester voor hem om vergeving vragen, en de man zal vergeving krijgen.
11 Maar als iemand te arm is voor twee duiven, dan moet hij 1/10 efa (2,2 liter) fijn meel aan Mij offeren. Hij mag er geen olijf-olie op gieten en er geen wierook bij doen, want het is een vergevings-offer. 12 Hij moet het naar de priester brengen. De priester moet er een handvol van nemen en dat op het altaar verbranden. Dat betekent dat het hele offer aan Mij is gegeven, ook al wordt er maar een deel van verbrand. Het is een vergevings-offer. 13 Zo moet de priester om vergeving voor hem vragen voor wat hij in één van deze dingen verkeerd gedaan heeft, en hij zal er vergeving voor krijgen. De rest van het meel is voor de priester, net als bij het meel-offer."[c]
Schuld-offers
14 De Heer zei tegen Mozes: 15 "Als iemand per ongeluk iets voor zichzelf heeft gehouden wat hij aan Mij had moeten geven, dan is hij schuldig.[d] Hij moet Mij om vergeving vragen door een gezond mannetjes-schaap aan Mij te offeren. De priester moet bepalen of het dier waardevol genoeg is. De waarde van het dier moet bepaald worden in sikkels zilver. (Daarbij wordt gerekend met de sikkel die in het heiligdom gebruikt wordt.) (1 sikkel is 11 gram) 16 Dat wat hij voor zichzelf gehouden had, moet hij alsnog aan Mij geven. Bovendien moet hij een vijfde deel van de waarde ervan als boete betalen. Hij moet dit alles aan de priester geven en de priester zal voor hem om vergeving vragen met het dier van het schuld-offer. En de man zal vergeving krijgen voor wat hij verkeerd gedaan heeft.
17 Als iemand per ongeluk iets doet wat Ik verboden heb, dan is hij toch schuldig. 18 Als offer voor zijn schuld moet hij een gezond mannetjes-schaap naar de priester brengen. De priester moet bepalen of het dier waardevol genoeg is. En hij moet met dit schuld-offer om vergeving voor de man vragen. En de man zal vergeving krijgen voor wat hij per ongeluk verkeerd had gedaan. 19 Het is een schuld-offer, want hij had een schuld aan de Heer." (lees verder)

Sins Requiring a Sin Offering
5 “If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.
2 “Or suppose you unknowingly touch something that is ceremonially unclean, such as the carcass of an unclean animal. When you realize what you have done, you must admit your defilement and your guilt. This is true whether it is a wild animal, a domestic animal, or an animal that scurries along the ground.
3 “Or suppose you unknowingly touch something that makes a person unclean. When you realize what you have done, you must admit your guilt.
4 “Or suppose you make a foolish vow of any kind, whether its purpose is for good or for bad. When you realize its foolishness, you must admit your guilt.
5 “When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin. 6 Then you must bring to the Lord as the penalty for your sin a female from the flock, either a sheep or a goat. This is a sin offering with which the priest will purify you from your sin, making you right with the Lord.[a]
7 “But if you cannot afford to bring a sheep, you may bring to the Lord two turtledoves or two young pigeons as the penalty for your sin. One of the birds will be for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering. 8 You must bring them to the priest, who will present the first bird as the sin offering. He will wring its neck but without severing its head from the body. 9 Then he will sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering against the sides of the altar, and the rest of the blood will be drained out at the base of the altar. This is an offering for sin. 10 The priest will then prepare the second bird as a burnt offering, following all the procedures that have been prescribed. Through this process the priest will purify you from your sin, making you right with the Lord, and you will be forgiven.
11 “If you cannot afford to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, you may bring two quarts[b] of choice flour for your sin offering. Since it is an offering for sin, you must not moisten it with olive oil or put any frankincense on it. 12 Take the flour to the priest, who will scoop out a handful as a representative portion. He will burn it on the altar on top of the special gifts presented to the Lord. It is an offering for sin. 13 Through this process, the priest will purify those who are guilty of any of these sins, making them right with the Lord, and they will be forgiven. The rest of the flour will belong to the priest, just as with the grain offering.”
Procedures for the Guilt Offering
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, 15 “If one of you commits a sin by unintentionally defiling the Lord’s sacred property, you must bring a guilt offering to the Lord. The offering must be your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value with silver, as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel.[c] 16 You must make restitution for the sacred property you have harmed by paying for the loss, plus an additional 20 percent. When you give the payment to the priest, he will purify you with the ram sacrificed as a guilt offering, making you right with the Lord, and you will be forgiven.
17 “Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin. 18 For a guilt offering, you must bring to the priest your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value. Through this process the priest will purify you from your unintentional sin, making you right with the Lord, and you will be forgiven. 19 This is a guilt offering, for you have been guilty of an offense against the Lord.”

5 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.
2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.
3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty.
4 Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.
5 And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:
6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.
7 And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the Lord; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
8 And he shall bring them unto the priest, who shall offer that which is for the sin offering first, and wring off his head from his neck, but shall not divide it asunder:
9 And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering.
10 And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
11 But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.
12 Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, even a memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the Lord: it is a sin offering.
13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and the remnant shall be the priest's, as a meat offering.
14 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
15 If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the Lord; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the Lord a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering.
16 And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.
17 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.
18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him.
19 It is a trespass offering: he hath certainly trespassed against the Lord.
