^30 (A)So keep my charge never to practice ^(B)any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: ^(C)I am the Lord your God.”

^23 (A)And you shall not walk in the customs of the nation that I am driving out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I detested them.

Abominable Practices

⁹ “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, ^(A)you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. ¹⁰ There shall not be found among you anyone ^(B)who burns his son or his daughter as an offering,^[a] anyone who ^(C)practices divination or ^(D)tells fortunes or interprets omens, or ^(E)a sorcerer ¹¹ or a charmer or ^(F)a medium or a necromancer or ^(G)one who inquires of the dead, ^12 (H)for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And ^(I)because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

⁹ They shall therefore keep my charge, ^(A)lest they bear sin for it and die thereby when they profane it: ^(B)I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

²⁶ But ^(A)you shall keep my statutes and my rules and do none of these abominations, either the ^(B)native or the stranger who sojourns among you ²⁷ (for the people of the land, who were before you, did all of these abominations, so that the land became unclean),

² “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ^(A)I am the Lord your God. ^3 (B)You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and ^(C)you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes. ^4 (D)You shall follow my rules^[a] and keep my statutes and walk in them. ^(E)I am the Lord your God.

Love and Serve the Lord

11 ^(A)“You shall therefore love the Lord your God and ^(B)keep his charge, his statutes, his rules, and his commandments always.
