The Holy Stones Lie Scattered

¹⁹ They cast their silver into the streets, and their gold is like an unclean thing. ^(A)Their silver and gold are not able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord. They cannot satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it. ^(B)For it was ^(C)the stumbling block of their iniquity. ^20 (D)His beautiful ornament they used for pride, and ^(E)they made their abominable images and their detestable things of it. Therefore ^(F)I make it an unclean thing to them. ²¹ And I will give it into the hands of ^(G)foreigners for prey, ^(H)and to the wicked of the earth for spoil, and ^(I)they shall profane it. ²² I will turn my face from them, and ^(J)they shall profane my treasured^[a] place. Robbers shall enter ^(K)and profane it.

The Unfaithful City

² But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, ^(A)there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”

¹³ And he burned the house of the Lord, and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple

^5 (A)And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said, ⁶ “As for these things that you see, ^(B)the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
