³⁶ Gideon said to God, “If you will save^(A) Israel by my hand as you have promised— ³⁷ look, I will place a wool fleece^(B) on the threshing floor.^(C) If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know^(D) that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.”

¹⁴ May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink,^(A) and I’ll water your camels too’^(B)—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac.^(C) By this I will know^(D) that you have shown kindness to my master.”

¹² And God said, “I will be with you.^(A) And this will be the sign^(B) to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you^[a] will worship God on this mountain.^(C)”

⁸ Then the Lord said, “If they do not believe^(A) you or pay attention to the first sign,^(B) they may believe the second.
