⁷ The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord^(A) their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.^(B)

³³ No sooner had Gideon died than the Israelites again prostituted themselves to the Baals.^(A) They set up Baal-Berith^(B) as their god^(C)

³¹ He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married^(A) Jezebel daughter^(B) of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal^(C) and worship him.

⁵³ He served and worshiped Baal^(A) and aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, just as his father^(B) had done.
