¹⁰ And ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel. When he went to war, the Lord handed over to him Cushan-rishathaim king of ^[a]Mesopotamia, so that ^[b]he prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.

³⁴ So ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord ^[a]covered Gideon like clothing; and he ^(B)blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called together to follow him.

Jephthah’s Tragic Vow

²⁹ Now ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh; then he passed through Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he went on to the sons of Ammon.

²⁵ And ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him when he was in ^[a](B)Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

⁶ And ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, so that ^(B)he tore it apart as one tears apart a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

^10 (A)When they came there to ^[a]the hill, behold, a group of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, so that he prophesied among them.

¹³ So Samuel took the horn of oil and ^(A)anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and ^(B)the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel set out and went to Ramah.
