Judges 2:15-17

15 Whenever the Israelites went out, the Lord was against them(A) and brought disaster on them, just as he had promised and sworn to them.(B) So they suffered greatly.
16 The Lord raised up(C) judges, who saved them from the power of their marauders, 17 but they did not listen to their judges. Instead, they prostituted(D) themselves with other gods, bowing down to them. They quickly turned from the way(E) of their ancestors, who had walked in obedience to the Lord’s commands. They did not do as their ancestors did.

New International Version
15 Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them(A) to defeat them, just as he had sworn to them. They were in great distress.(B)
16 Then the Lord raised up judges,[a](C) who saved(D) them out of the hands of these raiders. 17 Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted(E) themselves to other gods(F) and worshiped them.(G) They quickly turned(H) from the ways of their ancestors, who had been obedient to the Lord’s commands.(I)
