⁷ So now, you Israelites, all of you, give your advice and counsel here.”^(A)

³⁰ Then he commanded the men whom he sent, saying, “Thus shall you say to all the Israelites: Has such a thing ever happened^[a] since the day that the Israelites came up from the land of Egypt until this day? Consider it, take counsel, and speak out.”^(A)

⁵ If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.^(A)

¹⁰ not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world.^{(A) 11} But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy or an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler. Do not even eat with such a one. ¹² For what have I to do with judging those outside? Are you not judges of those who are inside?^(B)

⁶ Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all of the dough?^(A)

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church

5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you and the sort of sexual immorality that is not found even among gentiles, for a man is living with his father’s wife.^(A)

¹⁴ So the leaders^[a] partook of their provisions and did not ask direction from the Lord.^(A)

Pagan Practices Forbidden

14 “You are children of the Lord your God. You must not lacerate yourselves or shave your forelocks for the dead.^{(A) 2} For you are a people holy to the Lord your God; it is you the Lord has chosen out of all the peoples on earth to be his people, his treasured possession.^(B)
