²⁰ If you forsake the Lord^(A) and serve foreign gods, he will turn^(B) and bring disaster^(C) on you and make an end of you,^(D) after he has been good to you.”

¹⁴ But now your kingdom^(A) will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart^(B) and appointed^(C) him ruler^(D) of his people, because you have not kept^(E) the Lord’s command.”

¹⁰ “‘Because of this, I am going to bring disaster^(A) on the house of Jeroboam. I will cut off from Jeroboam every last male in Israel—slave or free.^[a](B) I will burn up the house of Jeroboam as one burns dung, until it is all gone.^(C)

⁴ For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince,^(A) without sacrifice^(B) or sacred stones,^(C) without ephod^(D) or household gods.^(E)
