³³They were glad to hear the report and praised God.^(A) And they talked no more about going to war against them to devastate the country where the Reubenites and the Gadites lived.

³⁴And the Reubenites and the Gadites gave the altar this name: A Witness^(B) Between Us—that the Lord is God.

³³So the thing pleased the children of Israel, and the children of Israel ^(A)blessed God; they spoke no more of going against them in battle, to destroy the land where the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.

³⁴The children of Reuben and the children of ^[a]Gad called the altar, Witness, “For it is a witness between us that the Lord is God.”
