8 But my companions discouraged the people. However, I was completely loyal to Yahweh my Elohim. 9 On that day Moses swore this oath: ‘The land your feet walked on will be a permanent inheritance for you and your descendants because you were completely loyal to Yahweh my Elohim.’
10 “So look at me. Yahweh has kept me alive as he promised. It’s been 45 years since Israel wandered in the desert when Yahweh made this promise to Moses. So now look at me today. I’m 85 years old.

8 but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear.(A) I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.(B) 9 So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance(C) and that of your children(D) forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’[a]
10 “Now then, just as the Lord promised,(E) he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved(F) about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!(G)
