⁵ They put worn and patched sandals on their feet and wore old clothes. All the bread of their food supply was dry and moldy.

²² “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe^(A) and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger^(B) and sandals on his feet.

¹³ And these wineskins that we filled were new, but see how cracked they are. And our clothes and sandals are worn out by the very long journey.”

⁵ Yet the Lord says, “During the forty years that I led^(A) you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.^(B)
