⁶ And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp ^(A)at Gilgal, saying, “Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us.”

⁶ And they went to Joshua, ^(A)to the camp at Gilgal, and said to him and to the men of Israel, “We have come from a far country; now therefore, make a ^[a]covenant with us.”

¹⁰ Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover ^(A)on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.

Mary Visits Elizabeth

³⁹ Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, ^(A)to a city of Judah,

²⁴ Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, “Drive, and go forward; do not slacken the pace for me unless I tell you.”

^11 (A)And they gave them ^[a]Kirjath Arba (Arba was the father of ^(B)Anak), ^(C)which is Hebron, in the mountains of Judah, with the common-land surrounding it.

²⁴ So they answered Joshua and said, “Because your servants were clearly told that the Lord your God ^(A)commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; therefore ^(B)we were very much afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing. ²⁵ And now, here we are, ^(C)in your hands; do with us as it seems good and right to do to us.”

¹⁵ So Joshua ^(A)made peace with them, and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them.
