⁴² Doesn’t the Scripture^(A) say that the Messiah comes from David’s^(B) offspring^[a] and from the town of Bethlehem,^(C) where David once lived?” ⁴³ So a division^(D) occurred among the crowd because of Him. ⁴⁴ Some of them wanted to seize Him,^(E) but no one laid hands on Him.
