John 3:29-31

²⁹he who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing him, with joy doth rejoice because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy hath been fulfilled.

³⁰`Him it behoveth to increase, and me to become less;

³¹he who from above is coming is above all; he who is from the earth, from the earth he is, and from the earth he speaketh; he who from the heaven is coming is above all.

²⁹The bride belongs to the bridegroom.^(A) The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.^(B) ³⁰He must become greater; I must become less.”^[a]

³¹The one who comes from above^(C) is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth.^(D) The one who comes from heaven is above all.
