21 Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said.[a] They[b] know what I said.” 22 When Jesus[c] had said this, one of the high priest’s officers who stood nearby struck him on the face and said,[d] “Is that the way you answer the high priest?” 23 Jesus replied,[e] “If I have said something wrong,[f] confirm[g] what is wrong.[h] But if I spoke correctly, why strike me?”
