^7 (A)If you had known me, you would have ^(B)known my Father also.^[a] From now on you do know him and ^(C)have seen him.”

^8 (D)Philip said to him, “Lord, ^(E)show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”

⁹ Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and ^(A)seventy of the elders of Israel ^(B)went up, ¹⁰ and they ^(C)saw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of ^(D)sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. ¹¹ And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ^(E)ate and drank.

¹⁸ Moses said, “Please ^(A)show me your glory.” ¹⁹ And he said, ^(B)“I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And ^(C)I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. ²⁰ But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for ^(D)man shall not see me and live.”

Isaiah's Vision of the Lord

6 In the year that ^(A)King Uzziah died I ^(B)saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train^[a] of his robe filled the temple. ² Above him stood the seraphim. Each had ^(C)six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. ³ And one called to another and said:

⁴ And ^(F)the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and ^(G)the house was filled with smoke. ⁵ And I said: “Woe is me! ^(H)For I am lost; ^(I)for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the ^(J)King, the Lord of hosts!”
