¹⁷ He is the Spirit^(A) of truth.^(B) The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be^[a] in you.^(C)

¹³ When the Spirit of truth^(A) comes, he will guide you into all the truth.^(B) For he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.

²³ except that in every town the Holy Spirit warns me that chains and afflictions are waiting for me.^(A)

¹¹ He came to us, took Paul’s belt, tied his own feet and hands, and said, ‘This is what the Holy Spirit says: “In this way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him over to the Gentiles.” ’^(A)

¹⁰ Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, since the Spirit searches everything,^(A) even the depths of God.^{(B) 11} For who knows a person’s thoughts^[a] except his spirit^(C) within him? In the same way, no one knows^(D) the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
