³⁵ By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love^(A) one another.”

⁵ But whoever keeps his word,^(A) truly in him the love of God is made complete. This is how we know we are in him:^(B)

¹⁹ This is how we will know that we belong to the truth^(A) and will reassure our hearts before him

²⁴ The one who keeps his commands remains in him,^(A) and he in him. And the way we know that he remains in us^(B) is from the Spirit^(C) he has given us.

² This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh^(A) is from God,^(B)

⁶ We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us;^(A) anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.^(B)

¹³ This is how we know that we remain in him^(A) and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.^(B)

² This is how we know that we love God’s children: when we love God and obey^[a] his commands.
