⁷ and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”^(A)

⁴⁰ Then Jesus went back across the Jordan^(A) to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, ⁴¹ and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign,^(B) all that John said about this man was true.”^{(C) 42} And in that place many believed in Jesus.^(D)

²² “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem,^(A) not knowing what will happen to me there. ²³ I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me^(B) that prison and hardships are facing me.^{(C) 24} However, I consider my life worth nothing to me;^(D) my only aim is to finish the race^(E) and complete the task^(F) the Lord Jesus has given me^(G)—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.^(H)
