The Lamb of God

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,^(A) who takes away the sin^(B) of the world!

⁶ Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven^[a](A) leavens the whole batch of dough?^{(B) 7} Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new unleavened batch, as indeed you are. For Christ our Passover lamb^(C) has been sacrificed.^{[b] 8} Therefore, let us observe the feast, not with old leaven or with the leaven of malice and evil,^(D) but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹⁷ If you appeal to the Father who judges impartially^(A) according to each one’s work,^(B) you are to conduct yourselves in reverence^(C) during your time living as strangers. ¹⁸ For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life^(D) inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,^{(E) 19} but with the precious blood of Christ,^(F) like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb.^{(G) 20} He was foreknown^(H) before the foundation of the world but was revealed in these last times^(I) for you. ²¹ Through him you believe in God,^(J) who raised him from the dead^(K) and gave him glory,^(L) so that your faith and hope are in God.
