²⁹ The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him, and *said, “Behold, ^(A)the Lamb of God who ^(B)takes away the sin of the world!

⁴ who ^(A)gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from ^(B)this present evil ^[a]age, according to the will of ^(C)our God and Father,

The Perfect High Priest

5 For every high priest ^(A)taken from among men is appointed on behalf of people in ^(B)things pertaining to God, in order to ^(C)offer both gifts and sacrifices ^(D)for sins;

³ and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices ^(A)for sins for himself, ^(B)as well as for the people.

²⁴ and He Himself ^[a](A)brought our sins in His body up on the ^[b](B)cross, so that we ^(C)might die to ^[c]sin and live for righteousness; ^(D)by His ^[d]wounds you were ^(E)healed.
